AirDock - Walker Bay
Walker Bay's AirDock is something you won't see any where else. How would you like to take your dock with you the next time you go to the lake? It's doable with this inflatable dock. Deflated, it takes about as much space as a mini refrigerator (90x50x32cm) and weighs 22kg. It comes in its own custom carry bag and a high-pressure hand pump. Setting it up was not difficult at all. We unpacked it, layed it out and began pumping air into it. Anyone who has gotten spoiled with the electric pump will need to apply a little effort to inflate the dock, but I did it in a matter of about 20 minutes, taking a quick break here and there. It was all worth it when I was done and able to take it out to the water. The material looked tough alright, but not as heavy and one could imagine. I was surprised at how steady it stayed when one person got on it, then how steady it stayed when another person got on it. We only had three people sample it, plus a kayak. Instead of docking the infatable kayak, we just loaded it on top when it was time to make it back. It's simply fun! We only swam off of it, but there's so much more that it can be used for depending on your interests, from water skiing, wakeboarding, sunbathing, you name it!
Here's some detailed information on it's durability and stability; AirWeb is formed from a heavy-duty seven-layer polymer coated fabric that is joined inside
by thousands of drop-stitch fibers, much like an elaborate web, making it possible to inflate to more than 6.5 PSI or 0.45 bar. This creates a rigid platform that is strong enough to endure several adults, kids and even the family dog. Underneath the deck, there are four Aqua-Loc™ ballast bags (patent pending) to trap water and prevent the AirDock from slipping on the water’s surface. The result is an extremely stable, firm platform that one can walk on, or even dive fro
m. The16 heavy duty stainless steel D-rings are attached in the same way as the towing rings on inflatable boats ensuring the dock will be secured to your boat, anchor or other docks.
The dock is a little over 60 sq. ft. with a thickness of 8 inches and can be secured off a boat or other docks or just let it float if the water is still enough. We had three people swim off of it and even loaded an inflatable kayak to it. Of course you can use it for sunbathing, wake boarding, water skiing and so much more.
At the end of the day, it took a couple of us to deflate it. It needed v
ery little cleaning, only because we got a little mud on it, but it was not a hassle at all. Overall, an incredibly well made, transportable product that delivers endless hours of fun.
