Eureka Kaycee 0° sleeping bag

Eureka Kaycee 0 degree sleeping bagEureka has redesigned their sleeping bags for performance and comfort while not breaking the bank.  Comfort and warmth are the key factors for sleep while in the backcountry and Eureka.

Appearance:  Mummy Sleeping bag with trapezoidal foot box. I do not choose style or color scheme to help with my bag selection.  It’s all about function.  Throw me a zebra, camouflage, or pink poke-a-dot bag as long as it’s warm and I can handle it.  Be it that style is not a crucial part, the two-toned bag does look nice.

Quality/Durability: The Kaycee proved it’s warmth in temperatures in the teens.  This bag is meant for the weekend warrior, car-camping, or hunting trip.  It weighs in at roughly 5 pounds which makes this bag not ideal for backcountry travel during extended trips yet perfect for a short getaway with comfort and warmth.  Eureka’s Rteq insulation blends 4 polyester fibers that balance warmth, durability and compressibility.  Eureka Kaycee 0 degree sleeping bag

Sleeping on uneven surfaces at times, I felt this bag did not allow much slippage due to the Rteq  material on the inside.  The draft collar and draft tube around the neck and alongside the zipper reduced thermal escape during the night after you have warmed the bag. Fortunately, this bag did not get wet on the outings tested, so it is difficult to assess the quickness of drying and change in warmth thereafter.

Function: Hunting trips, car-camping, short weekend trips.
