Why Dance?

Dance education inspires good work habits and healthy lifestyle choices.  Dance students join an artistic family where they develop enduring friendships and nurture a passion for the arts. Dance develops the individual physically, artistically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.  Studies show that a structured dance program enhances academic achievement.

At every age and ability, dancing is exciting and joyful and students gain many benefits:

Physical Benefits: Balance and Coordination, Structured physical activity, Correct posture and alignment, Strength and Flexibility, Athleticism and Kinesthetic awareness.

Intellectual Benefits: Critical thinking skills, Problem solving, Time management, Concentration and Focus, Self-discipline.

Emotional Benefits: Camaraderie, Responsibility, Respect for others, Teamwork, Tolerance.

Artistic Benefits: Self Expression, Creativity, Communication, Aesthetic Awareness, Musicality.

Social Benefits: Confidence, Commitment, Determination, Self-respect, Joy and excitement.

The Airborne dance program is designed, first and foremost, to be a fun and safe learning experience for your dancer. We teach dance technique, flexibility, strength, and vocabulary. We work on motor skills, rhythm, and creative movement through many inspiring activities that are incorporated into our lesson plans and vary based on skill level and age of the dancer.

Airborne Dance offers both Recital and Non-Recital based classes, so that your dancer can decide what type of commitment they want to make to dancing. In addition to our DanceBuilders and DanceStars recreational dance programs, we also have a variety of performance dance teams.

Our recreational performance team is the Tour Ensemble and is open to all dancers in DanceStars recital based classes. There are two age groups within the Tour Ensemble, a 6 to 8 year old group and a 9 and older group. In addition to their regular classes this group rehearses 1 additional hour per week. Please see our class schedule for specific days and times.

Our competitive performance team is an invitation only program. Teachers watch all classes to see which dancers enjoy learning, take corrections well, and who show an interest in performing. The competitive team consist of two levels based on skill, pre-team and team. These groups rehearse between 2 to 4 days per week totaling between 5 to 12 hours per week, depending on level and time of year. If the competitive dance team is something your dancer would like to pursue, talk with their instructor.
